Ladoo

Laddu or Laddoo is a sweet popular among South Asian such as Indians, Pakistanis, Nepali and Bangladeshi. It is often prepared on festivals or household events such as weddings and births or given as a prasad at Hindu Temples. It is made out of flour and a variety of other ingredients formed into balls. One of the earliest mentions of laddu is in a twelfth-century Gujarati manuscript. The laddu or laddoo can be made from gram flour (besan), semolina (rava or sajjige in Kannada), wheat flakes, and many other flours.


Ladoos are one of the most liked Indian sweets. It is always present in almost every festive occassion or any happy moment in an Indian family.

For Hindus, during the occassion of Diwali which the festival of lights, Ladoo is a special significance because it is considered auspicious to offer Ladoo to their God.
